This is the same for the smudge tool and works vice versa. Tap + hold on eraser to use the same eraser brush as the paintbrush. Tap brush set to bring up side menu + choose rename, delete, share, or duplicate. Then drag brushes into it by using the Move Brushes gestures above. Scroll to the top of the brush menu + scroll up again to show the hidden + symbol. Now you should be able to hit that number. To get it accurately on a number, while you’re sliding it up or down, move your finger away from the slider and move it up and down. Sometimes while moving the sliders up or down to choose a brush size or opacity, it won’t land on a specific percent you’re trying to choose. To move the sliders up or down, tap the rounded square in the middle of the size slider and opacity slider + hold + pull out and you can move it either up or down. I currently have mine set to tap the rounded square in the brush slider + touch canvas. To quickly change to the layer you’re viewing, you can set up your preferred gestures in the Gesture Control Panel. Watch the video to see what it looks like.) Tap + hold + drag layer off the side of the layer menu + using other hand tap Gallery + using other hand tap canvas you want to move layer to + using other hand tap Layer menu + drop layer where you want it. Tap the N in the layer to choose various blend modes. Two finger tap on layer then slide finger left on the canvas to reduce opacity or right to increase opacity. Two finger swipe to the right on the layer. Two finger pinch two or more layers together. They will turn blue and you can move them, transform them, or CREATE A GROUP OF LAYERS. Tap a layer + slide additional layers to the left. To open a canvas at any time, double tap on it. Tap the X to exit out of preview mode or use two fingers and pinch down to exit. You can then swipe left or right or tap the preview and use the arrows to navigate. You will see a blue circle with a number indicating how many canvases are selected and you can move these as a group. Tap + hold a canvas with one finger and using the other hand, tap other canvases you want to select. When it brings you back to the main gallery, let go of the canvas. Tap + hold and hover over the stack name at the top left. This is like a folder that you can rename by tapping “Stack”. When you let go, Procreate will create a stack. Tap + hold to move canvas around and place it where you like. Swipe canvas to the left to either share it, duplicate it, or delete it. Use two fingers and twist the canvas to be either a landscape or portrait orientation. Tap “Untitled Artwork” to rename any of the canvases you created. And you might even feel silly when you realize you’ve just attempted to do a Procreate gesture on paper… yeah, I’ve done that more times than I’d care to admit … so let’s get gesturing! Once you start using these, you’ll find yourself getting disappointed that all the other apps don’t have them. In addition, I’ve included iPad shortcuts and Apple Pencil shortcuts. If you’re used to working in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, these may be helpful for you. As if that’s not amazing enough, I’m also sharing keyboard shortcuts you can use in Procreate. I’m also offering a PDF cheatsheet you can print and keep next to your iPad as well as a video tutorial showing each of them in action. I’ve compiled over fifty gestures and shortcuts to use in the app and am sharing them in this post. I’m going to show you where all of these hidden actions are and include shortcuts you may not know about. Learning to use the Procreate app is really easy with its simplified interface, but having that minimal interface means a lot of things may be hidden or not obvious within the main screen. And this may be because of all the fun shortcuts and gestures I’ve learned along the way. You might know by now that working in Procreate is my favorite way to create.

Unfortunately, Capcom still isn't divulging the release date for Not a Hero, other than the always nebulous "this Spring. The film is supposed to be a story bridge between RE6 and RE7, so perhaps the DLC let's the player actually pursue the madman. Some people might say that Chris Redfield is quite the Hunk. The plot has Chris chasing an individual who is trying to release something called The Trigger Virus in New York City. Time to end who has been behind umbrella this entire time. An upcoming CGI movie in Japan called Biohazard: Vendetta reunites Chris, Leon Kennedy, and Rebecca Chambers. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard > General Discussions > Topic Details. At the conclusion of the game you find Redfield is working for Umbrella Corp., but the hint seems to be that this weird combo of Redfield and his job could deal with him pursuing a person or a creature. I just want the franchise to be Resident Evil again not a fan service orgy. The tweet is indeed a teaser for the story-based DLC. Note that spoilers are ahead if you haven't already finished RE7. He is the older brother of Claire Redfield and a current member of the BSAA where he, Jill and nine others co. As a former member of the United States Air Force, he is also an experienced fighter pilot. He was a member of the Special Tactics And Rescue Service and served as Alpha Team's point man. Who or what is he chasing? Find out soon in this separate story. Chris Redfield is one of the main characters in the Resident Evil series of survival horror games. Capcom has let the "hero" out of the bag now, revealing that Chris Redfield will be coming back to the game.Ĭhris Redfield returns in the free “Not A Hero” DLC for #RE7 this Spring. "This time, each character is made on the premise of photo realistic depiction, and Chris Redfield which appears in "Not A Hero" (DLC scheduled for free delivery this spring) also receives a pretty impressive impression," Resident Evil 7 director Koushi Nakanishi wrote. We knew that the free Not a Hero DLC was coming for Resident Evil 7, but we didn't know much about it. There were also whispers that Resident Evil Revelations, worked on by Resident Evil 7's director, once featured this plotline - of a character suddenly being revealed as Hunk - before it ended up being cut.īut Capcom has now addressed the changed design for Chris' character model in a fresh blog post - and it seems the alteration is just that: a simple decision to change his design. Someone whose face had barely been glimpsed in the series to date - the masked Umbrella operative Hunk. So, fans had speculated, this Chris was actually someone else. It appears Chris is working with Umbrella, the series' bad guys - a complete U-turn of allegiance. Chris pops up first at the end of Resident Evil 7, arriving in a helicopter with Umbrella's logo attached. It’s easy to overlook religious units amidst the hustle and bustle of building an economy and a military simultaneously. Utilizing a civilization’s religious units during a match shouldn’t be discounted. Garrison a small military force nearby to deal with any siege engines and let the castle take care of the rest. They can annihilate entire enemy columns with startling ease. Castles upgraded with further defensive improvements are highly recommended. Placing castles behind stone walls is even better in order to frustrate enemy battering rams. Identify narrow chokepoints where foes have no choice but to tangle with a castle. Therefore, it’s a good strategy, where applicable, to build castles at the entrances to one’s base. They’re formidable structures that won’t be demolished easily without the use of siege engines. Just like in Age of Empires 2, castles in AOE 4 shouldn’t be taken lightly. The player’s own forces simply need to mop up the remainder. Fully upgraded defensive emplacements can shred through enemy formations. Upgrade buildings too, especially structures such as castles. By the same token, deadlier units end fights a lot sooner. More durable units don’t need to be replaced as often. Promoting a type of unit to the next highest tier should also be done as soon as possible once players advance to the next age. To make units even more effective, players must buy upgrades from buildings such as blacksmiths. Recruiting a large army is only the first step in the process. The best thing about possessing a strong economy is that purchasing upgrades becomes a lot easier. Build those as well to potentially exploit an opponent’s weakness. Every civilization also has its own special units unique to that culture. Possess a little of everything in one’s army: archers, spearmen, swordsmen, cavalry, and siege engines. With enough houses and villagers, players can recruit a pretty significant number of military forces compared to previous games in the series. Understanding the rock-paper-scissors nature of the game’s combat is vital. Throwing cavalry against spearmen, for instance, isn’t going to work very well. That’s because building a mixed composition of military units cannot be overstated. The game stresses this fact quite a bit in the tutorials. Once they run out, switch to farming to keep the food flowing. Hunting deer and collecting sheep is viable in the early game. If a water source is nearby, fishing is also an option. Build mills wherever open space is available inside one’s base. Producing a large number of villagers, as outlined in the previous entry, will need a good deal of food as well.įarming is one of the most reliable methods for collecting a constant supply of food. Players must stockpile plenty of it to ensure a steady flow of soldiers to replace losses on the battlefield. Why? Villagers, military units, upgrades, and advancements to the next age require food. All resources in AOE 4 are important but prioritizing food in the early stages of a match is essential. Articulations certainly add to realism, and the same can be said of new convolution reverb in the master effects section. This doesn't require any extra samples, though the fact that it takes advantage of different velocity zones means it sounds best when used on multisampled cells. On subject of customising, 'articulations' feature lets you apply standard drum performance techniques to any cell. You can easily import individual cells from these when building up your own sound set. As well as adding to natural kits found in version 2, it also extends its coverage into sound design territory, with Armageddon and Noise kits featuring various impulse-type noises. In terms of sound, expanded library is excellent. The insane list of missions available (and more become available as others are completed) can be a little daunting, but it’s actually a good thing. It’s absolutely staggering how much there is to do in the game, even from the very beginning. At its core are 12 main chapters that move the story along. some are intentionally easy and meant to tackle when you’re new, while others are meant for more seasoned adventurers. It’s a somewhat involved process, but it’s basically there to ensure that there are missions that match up with the player’s experience, i.e. Some have requirements, such as attaining a certain level, using certain party members, or completing certain other missions. Xenoblade Chronicles X is made up of dozens of “missions.” The vast majority of missions are optional. Technically speaking, the entire world is accessible from the get-go, though you’ll find yourself ill-equipped to make it very far Then there’s the outside world, divided into 5 distinct “continents,” each with a unique look and feel as well as a good deal of water (and sky) surrounding these land masses. There’s NLA, a sort of city, which itself is divided into residential, commercial, industrial, and administrative districts. Mira, as it exists in Xenoblade, is divided into several sections. The main story follows our lead character and his/her team on their quest for the Lifehold, but it also takes several twists and turns from small domestic matters to large scale secondary plots including the integration of other natives of Mira into NLA. See all that stuff in the distance? You can actually get there if you work for it… The main objective is to find the Lifehold’s core before its power supply runs out and thus is unable to support the bodies inside. They know that it must still exist and remain relatively undamaged, else their mimeosomes would be unable to function. Their most important task, however, is finding the “Lifehold,” a part of the White Whale that contains everyone’s real bodies. Those responsible for maintenance on the ship now take on new roles, including those of BLADEs, who tackle everything from taming the local wildlife to building water purification plants to acting as the police for NLA’s residents. The main part of the spaceship doubles as a city after the landing, dubbed “New L.A.” (NLA) by its provisional government. Apparently, the hostile race responsible for Earth’s destruction has followed the White Whale, and in the ensuing attack, the ark crash lands on a planet known as “Mira.” Luckily, Mira isn’t too different from Earth. We follow one particular ark – the White Whale – who encounters more of the troublesome aliens. These guys really have it out for humanity. In order to facilitate the long journey, the actual human bodies are placed in stasis, while their consciousness is uploaded into humanoid robots known as “mimeosomes.” They look and act like regular people, though they aren’t subject to biological processes like aging and have an increased tolerance to damage in fact, they can be repaired through mechanical means just like any machine. Humanity bands together to send out several “arks,” generational starships meant to seek out a new home and ensure the continued survival of mankind. Earth has been caught in the middle of an intergalactic war, and in the process is systematically rendered uninhabitable. Xenoblade takes place in the not-so-distant future. “Action RPG” is an apt description – there’s a ton of fighting, and when you’re not fighting, you’re typically exploring or gathering. There’s probably plenty of other games like Xenoblade Chronicles X out there, but they aren’t the sort that you’ll usually find me playing. It’s a long and complicated ride with a lot to talk about, so I’ll do my best to keep to the general rather than delve into the multitude of specifics. It’s been a long time since I’ve played a multi-hundred hour game…even longer since I’ve reviewed one (have I ever?) but Xenoblade Chronicles X has been an awesome ride for the last 300 hours or so and I’m sure I’ll make it to at least 400 before all is said and done. This creates a system of equations that can symbolize the entire problem. The calculations will then be done on these smaller and simpler parts, one by one. What FEM (Finite Element Method) does is to divide a huge problem into smaller and simpler parts. FEM is a numerical calculation method that finds approximate solutions for problems ranging from easy to very complex, the problems are partial differential equations. It’s actually not as complex as it sounds. We should start off by introducing you to what Finite Element Method (FEM) is. I’ve created this step-by-step tutorial so it’s easy to follow but if you need any help just leave a comment!Ĭlick here for more Autodesk Inventor Tutorials. There’s also a FEM exercise at the bottom of this page. The goal of this tutorial is to hold your hand while you try out your first FEA (Finite Element Analysis). I’m here to let you know why you should give Autodesk Inventor Stress Analysis another shot and to teach you how to it up and running.Īutodesk Inventor has an add-in named Stress Analysis that is based on FEM ( Finite Element Method) (We’ll get into what FEM is in a while!) Thanks very much to Viktor Rask of for this Awesome introduction to the Autodesk Inventor Stress Analysis Environment.Ĭlick here for details of how you can become a guest writer on the CSO Blog! Have you been trying to figure out the Autodesk Inventor stress analysis add-in for a while, but never quite knew what to use it for? Or why you should even bother learning it! Weapons, armor, and tools are separated from your standard resources and crafted items, and you’ll have multiple types of tools at your disposal as you advance. There are multiple story focused islands to explore, and then smaller resource heavy islands to check out, where you’ll have a handy checklist of items to find that can give out bonus rewards upon completion. Online multiplayer that supports up to 4 players, a new glide item that allows you to jump off of high objects and glide across vast areas (think Breath of the Wild), villagers that’ll auto-build certain structures while you’re off adventuring, and more. There’s a lot of other tweaks and additions present in Dragon Quest Builders 2 as well. The combination of simpler blocks with more detailed objects helps make the whole thing just pop out more, and for me ends up being more visually appealing than other Minecraft inspired titles. Carving out fields, rivers, lakes, and more in conjunction with large buildings, a variety of building materials, and seeing NPC’s just strolling about really makes for an impressive image. It helps that the writing in Dragon Quest Builders 2 is really good, humorous and entertaining throughout, much like the mainline Dragon Quest series.ĭragon Quest Builders 2 also looks really great, which won’t come as a big surprise for those that played the first game, but it certainly still manages to wow me when I scale back my view and take in whatever progress I’ve made. The story does a great job of piecing out projects for you to tackle, getting players accustomed to the building mechanics but also doing so at a fast enough pace that it won’t bore returning players. Much like the first game you’ll start with simple structures, but quickly advance on to larger projects. It also becomes a little easier to target gaps and smaller spaces while in first-person mode.Īs you play through the story you’ll start to learn recipes and blueprints allowing you to build bigger and better items. It changes the analog controls so that when you press back on the stick you’ll just slide backwards while still facing forward, making it easier to lay down rows of objects in quick succession. You’ll generally move about the play area while in a third person perspective, much like the first game, but Dragon Quest Builders 2 also features a first-person mode which is immensely helpful when it comes to building stuff. You, as your male or female player character and builder, will in turn convince the multitude of NPC’s you meet to pick up your building cause, and restore the world brick by brick. The overall story revolves around the Children of Hargon capturing or enslaving builders, and restricting the world from being able to build anything new. Most notably the enemy faction dubbed The Children of Hargon, and Malroth, Lord of Destruction. Just like the original Dragon Quest Builders took cues from NES/Famicom Dragon Quest, Builder 2 incorporates elements of Dragon Quest II. Much like the original, the blending of a Minecraft-esque building mechanic with Dragon Quest characters and world design works extremely well, and makes for a really unique action-RPG that’s unlike anything else. There’s so much to do here, exploration, building, quests and side quests, quirky character interactions, crafting and so on, that you’re constantly moving forward and progressing through the game however you see fit. As much as I enjoyed Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, I think I might actually like Dragon Quest Builders 2 even more. |
